Mula sa kanyang pagkapanalo ng gold sa Women's 55-kg category sa weightlifting sa 31st Southeast Asian Games saHanoi, Vietnam kahapon, binahagi ni Hidilyn Diaz na aware sya na ang tagumpay niya ay hindi naiiba sa kwento ng mgaOverseas Filipinos na araw-araw sumasabak sa laban ng buhay sa abroad habang malayo sa kanilang mga mahal sabuhay.
Mas matindi pa nga raw ang nararanasan ng mga kabayanabroad lalo na noong nagkaroon ng pandemya. May ibangnatigil sa trabaho pero hindi pa rin umuuwi sa Pilipinas dahiliniisip ang kalagayan ng pamilya at may iba namangnagdodoble-kayod para madagdagan ang income-–bagay nahinahangaan ni Hidilyn sa kapwa Pinoy.
“We take it day-by-day and we continue with our dreams. Talagang akma yung linyang we find ways eh. Hindi ka dapatbumitaw kase may paraan para maitawid ang buhay,” paliwanag ni Hidilyn na isang brand ambassador ng BDO Unibank.

“Iba kapag may nakakausap ka. May kasangga ako hindi langyung coaching team ko kundi pati na rin friends ko. Napakalaking tulong nila. At syempre, hindi mawawala anginspirasyon na galing sa aking pamilya at ang prayers ko kay God,” ani ni Olympic at ngayo'y SEA Games gold medalist.
Kwento din ni Hidilyn na may mga oras din na umiiyak nalamang siya at tinatanong ang sarili ng “ano ba itonghinaharap ko ngayon? Di ko na yata alam kung paanosolusyunan.” Pero sa kabila nito, kinumbinse ni Hidilyn angsarili na kayang-kaya niyang lagpasan ang mga pagsubok at magiging okay din ang lahat. Ganung mentalidad din angtumulong sa kanya para makamtan ang pinakahuli nyang gold sa weightlifting.
